SUMMARY. For the past decade, significant progress has been made on the pre-eclampsia pathophysiology and the possibilities of treatment, but much remains to be explored.
In this chapter, authors present newer clinical studies, classifications and definitions of hypertension, preeclampsia/eclampsia and HELLP syndrome of the American Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians in 2013. The prevalence of preeclampsia in twin pregnancy is two to three times more often than the singleton pregnancy.
